Developers will longer be able to use the Facebook Account Kit option from March 9, 2020.
From 2020, Account Kit function won’t be available on Facebook anymore. Feature developers will join their apps which would benefit the user to log into an app with their mobile number or email id but without any need of a password.
Account Kit access has already expired for new users on September 9, 2019. The app developers have an Account Kit joined with their current apps, and that function will be longer available from March 9, 2020. In case any of those app developers who would own the Account Kit till June 9, 2020, will be able to retrieve their collected data through the Account Kit feature.
Why is it necessary?
The Account Kit was convenient for the users to signup an app without any password. The feature would attract a lot of users and increase app engagement. But in the process, the user’s data was compromised such as phone number and email on the app the user is signing up.
Facebook would now take more responsibility for the user data, its application as well as security and privacy measures. As of now, app marketers have to come up with new ideas to attract users for more logins & registrations. Far more, they have to make new strategies to collect user data which would have access through Account kit Feature.
It is noteworthy of facebook to plug out a feature which would allow the users to sign up into other apps via Facebook login information quickly. It also provides developers with the power to ask permission to access data of the user through the app.
